Simple Release Tracking

We have made it significantly easier for your team to start tracking releases with Opbeat.

Easier release tracking

With this change, it is no longer necessary to install anything on your servers. All it takes to get started is a simple CURL to our API:

$ curl https://opbeat.com/api/v1/organizations/<organization-id>/apps/<app-id>/releases/ \
    -H "Authorization: Bearer <secret-token>" \
    -d rev=`git log -n 1 --pretty=format:%H` \
    -d branch=`git rev-parse --abbrev-ref HEAD` \
    -d status=completed

In addition to the simplified release tracking, we have cut a new version of the Opbeat Ruby gem which includes Capistrano integration. For Capistrano users, release tracking is now just one line away:

# In config/deploy.rb
require 'opbeat/capistrano'

For heroku users, the steps are unchanged.

We will slowly be deprecating the old API, and we will be reaching out to users of the old API, as well as the now obsolete OpbeatCLI, in the following months with simple transition instructions.
